On the morning of August 30, the People's Committee of Lao Cai City reported that a heavy rainstorm lasting from 7:00 to 8:00 AM led to localized flooding in several areas across the city.

Specifically, the downpour caused flooding on many key streets and neighborhoods in the wards of Bac Cuong, Nam Cuong, Bac Lenh, Binh Minh, and Pom Han.

According to the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue in Lao Cai, the heavy rainfall was a result of a low-pressure trough passing through the Northern and North-Central regions of Vietnam. The storm brought significant rainfall across Lao Cai province overnight on August 29 and into the early morning of August 30.

The districts of Lao Cai City, Bao Thang, Bac Ha, and Bao Yen experienced the heaviest rainfall, leading to localized flooding in several areas.

In total, 76 homes were affected, with 74 of them in Lao Cai City suffering from water damage and damage to household items. Additionally, approximately 25 hectares of crops in Lao Cai City were inundated by the floodwaters.
