During peak hours, congestion stretched along Truong Chinh Street, connecting District 12 and Tan Phu District, in the direction of the city center.
Despite no reported accidents or incidents, the traffic gridlock was attributed to the increase in vehicle volume at year-end, combined with bottlenecks at key intersections such as Truong Chinh - Phan Huy Ich and Truong Chinh - Tay Thanh.
Tran Thi Hoa, a resident of District 12, shared her frustration, stating that it had been a long time since she had encountered such severe congestion on Truong Chinh Street.
“It took me over 30 minutes to travel just 1 kilometer from Tham Luong Bridge to the Truong Chinh - Tay Thanh intersection,” she said. By 8:20 AM, many commuters were still stuck on Tham Luong Bridge, which connects District 12 with Tan Phu District. Some drivers opted to turn around, unable to find a way through the dense traffic.
The gridlock caused significant delays for commuters heading to work and school, disrupting daily schedules and heightening frustrations during the final days of the year.

During the morning rush hour on December 27, Truong Chinh Road, which runs through District 12 and Tan Phu toward the center of Ho Chi Minh City, faced prolonged traffic congestion. VietNamNet reported that there were no traffic accidents or fires in the area. The primary cause of the gridlock was increased traffic volume at the year-end, coupled with traffic conflicts at intersections like Truong Chinh - Phan Huy Ich and Truong Chinh - Tay Thanh.
