The delegation, led by Colonel Le Hong Chien, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 4, visited the mayor of Yokosuka city, the commander of Yokosuka base, commander of the coast guard force in Yokosuka and the city’s police chief.
Colonel Le Hong Chien said the visit reflects the foreign policies of the Party and State of Vietnam in military affairs and defence, thus consolidating friendship between Vietnam and Japan.
The visit is also part of implementing agreements of the countries’ senior officials on the 45th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties and the joint vision statement on Vietnam-Japan defence relations towards the next decade.
Officials of Yokosuka city voiced their hope that the activities of the Vietnam Navy’s delegation will improve cooperation between the countries’ armies and navies, contributing to building territorial waters of peace, friendship and cooperation.
During the visit, the Vietnamese delegation will play futsal and volleyball games with members of the Yokosuka base. Both sides will visit each other’s ships and attend a reception together.
The 015-Tran Hung Dao ship is set to visit Sakai port of Osaka prefecture afterward.-VNA
