The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs suggested two options for Tet Holiday including a more generous 10-day option. Under the first option, people would have had from January 27 to February 5 to enjoy the Tet Holiday.

However, the Ministry of Home Affairs gave its support to the second option. Civil servants will be given two days off in the lunar calendar of 2016 and three days off in 2017. Since the first and second days of the new year are on Saturday and Sunday, people will be given two more days off so Tet holiday will last from January 26 to February 1.

In terms of the New Year holiday, since January 1 is on Sunday, they will only have Monday off, providing a break from December 31 to January 2.

However because the Hung Kings’ festival is on Thursday, April 6, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs will only let people take Friday off and they will be forced to work the following Saturday. The Ministry of Home Affairs also agrees with the proposal.

It also approved the April 29 to May 2 holiday for Reunification and May Day. Workers will have days off from September 2 to 4 for National Day.
