General Director of Siemens in Southeast Asia, Mr. Armin Bruck, expressed the company’s interest in building the North-South high-speed railway at a meeting with the Ministry of Transport (MoT).

According to Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong the government is determined to build the railway and has assigned MoT to prepare a pre-feasibility study for submission to the National Assembly.

It is necessary to clarify the project’s feasibility, economic efficiency, resources, investment phasing, and technology selection

“We are conducting research in order to complete the report by the beginning of 2018,” said Mr. Dong. “In 2020 we will start investing in the first stretch. Siemens can support us in this phase, especially as a technology consultant.”

Mr. Bruck affirmed that Siemens seeks long-term cooperation with Vietnam and has confidence in the country and ASEAN.
