This is the third time that Shontelle has visited Vietnam following her previous arrivals in 2017 and 2019.
On October 4, Shontelle's birthday party was held in HCM City, with the presence of many local celebrities like actress Truong Ngoc Anh, who is also the head of Miss Earth Vietnam 2023 jury, and beauty queens Thuy Van, Hoang Thuy, Kim Duyen, musician Duong Khac Linh, singers Sara Luu, Only C, Ha Nhi, Hoang My An, and actress Kim Ly.
At the final night of Miss Earth Vietnam 2023, which is scheduled on October 14 in HCM City, Shontelle will perform her hit "Impossible".
Shontelle said that she loves coconut water and Vietnamese pho. The singer revealed that she is planning to cooperate with Vietnamese artists to launch international music products.
Shontelle began to work on her debut studio album back in early 2008, with her debut single being released in July, 2008, reaching number 36 on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming a moderate hit in the process.
The Barbadian singer’s debut album “Shontelligence” was released on 18 November, 2008. The album reached number 115 on the US Billboard 200, selling 6,200 records in its first week and going on to reach number 24 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
Her second album "No Gravity" was then released in 2010, with her singles "T-Shirt" and "Impossible" achieving international success. In 2020, Shontelle released "Remember Me".
Miss Earth Vietnam 2023 runs with the theme of "ME loves TREE" and aims to seek a local representative capable of competing for the Miss Earth 2023 crown.
The contest’s overall winner will receive a crown worth VND1 billion, as well as a cash prize totaling VND100 million, whilst the first, second, and third runners-up will be awarded VND50 million each and other gifts.
Miss Earth was originally launched by the Philippines Carousel Production Company in 2001 as a means of promoting environmentally-friendly activities. Previously, Vietnam played host to Miss Earth 2010.
The nation first sent representatives to Miss Earth back in 2003. In 2018, the country won Miss Earth for the first time with the crown going to Nguyen Phuong Khanh of Ben Tre province.
