Recently, several social media platforms have spread rumors claiming that the State Bank of Vietnam is planning to withdraw these small-denomination bills. In response, the central bank has firmly stated that such claims are entirely unfounded and lack any legal basis.

According to the State Bank, the issuance, management, and circulation of Vietnam’s currency are carried out in strict compliance with the law. These actions are designed to fully meet the payment needs of the economy, align with real-life socio-economic conditions, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of both citizens and businesses.

The central bank has called on individuals and organizations to refrain from posting or sharing inaccurate information regarding the alleged removal of 1,000 to 5,000 VND banknotes. It emphasized that any violations in this regard will be subject to legal penalties as prescribed by law.
