The fund is going to provide 3 billion VND (129,000 USD) for 50 projects in the fields of environment, education and community health this year. The funding will be given at the levels of 1,500 USD, 3,000 USD, and 5,000 USD.

At the event to introduce the plan in Ho Chi Minh City on May 6, General Director of Aviva Vietnam Paul George Nguyen said community-based projects in each locality will have certain effects when they are implemented by people and organisations in that locality.

President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu spoke highly of Aviva’s efforts for the sake of a better community through concrete programmes and actions.

As a strategic partner of the Aviva Community Fund, the Red Cross Society hopes it can help realise practical ideas and projects, she noted.

Speaking at the event, Consul General of the UK in HCM City Ian Gibbons said the UK and Vietnam have bilateral relations developing sustainably in many areas, including politics, economy and society. Their ties have been enhanced through many exchanges and trade promotion activities between businesses and state agencies.

Aside from investment, British companies have always made efforts to practice their CSR in Vietnam, he said, noting that Aviva’s coordination with a prestigious organisation like the Red Cross Society will create chances to promote community-based projects to benefit local residents.-VNA
