From May 12 to 14, the organisers will provide free vegetarian food to the visitors and participants at the Vesak 2019. A food centre that covers 4,000 square metres has been set up for the event.

Monk Thich Thanh Phong, head of the finance department of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, said 1,000 volunteers including 200 monks had helped to prepare the food. The chefs are monks from many pagodas across Vietnam.

It is estimated that they will use 100 tonnes of fruits and vegetables and nearly 500 dishes will be offered to the visitors during the event. Vesak will introduce visitors to different dishes from the northern, central and southern regions of Vietnam.

The food will also follow different themes of the day. The organisers will also prepare 40,000 free meals for the visitors.
