The Board of Management at the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park approved planning for a software area on April 6.
The software area is one of nine functional areas in the park and focuses on the information technology business and manufacturing.
Planning is aimed at building a complete production area with modern infrastructure and harmonious landscapes that are environmentally friendly and can be adapted to investors’ demands, said Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Deputy Director of the Board of Management.
He expects the area to become the Silicon Valley of Vietnam. It covers 70.7 ha on a peninsula around Tan Xa Lake.
The hi-tech park is a key project of the Vietnamese Government in its bid to develop a hi-tech industry in Vietnam and bolster the country’s research capacity. Its total area is 1,586 ha.
Hoa Lac, in Hanoi’s west, is to become a new urban area equipped with modern social and technological infrastructure, playing a role in reducing population pressure in the center of the capital, according to the general planning tasks for the Hoa Lac Urban Area approved by the Prime Minister.
