Governments in districts in Hanoi, the northern provinces of Hung Yen and Hai Duong have declared themselves free from Africa Swine Fever as no more outbreaks of the disease within 30 days.
Ngoc Thuy in Long Bien District of Hanoi, Duc Hop Commune in Kim Dong District of Hung Yen Province and Dai Dong Commune in Tu Ky District of Hai Duong had reported outbreaks of ASF before; however, they are now free from the epidemic as there has been no more outbreaks for 30 days.
Deputy Head of the Department of Animal Health under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Dam Xuan Thanh yesterday said that 23 cities and provinces have reported outbreaks of ASF and over 73,000 hogs have been culled.
Luong Son District of Hoa Binh Province in the North has recorded no outbreaks within 28 days while Hoa Lu District in Ninh Binh has had no ASF outbreak within 26 days, Bac Kan has had no outbreak within 22 days.
Since there has been no more outbreak of ASF, prices of swine have headed higher, breeders hence re-raised the animal. However, breeders in the northern provinces of Thai Binh and Hai Phong where reported outbreaks of ASF still have to pay VND500,000 each sample for testing before selling to the market.
In regard to the matter, Deputy Head Thanh said that cost of ASF testing is supported by enterprises in the sector and international organization for the first phase. At present, because support has been no longer, testing fee is just enough for the sector to cover.
