A representative from GS E&C’s Project Management Department confirmed with VET that GS E&C will focus on infrastructure development projects in the southern city.

He also noted that despite facing many difficulties the company expects the Tan Son Nhat - Binh Loi Outer Ring Road project, construction of which began in 2004, to be completed in September.

According to Mr. Huh Myung Soo, Deputy Chairman of GS E&C, the company has exerted all efforts in conducting projects in the Thu Thiem urban area and Nha Be district in the city. The Nha Be New Urban Area project has been approved by local authorities and he hopes the city will remove obstacles in site clearance and relocate power lines for quick implementation.

Representatives from GS E&C told the meeting that the company has been conducting research so it can participate in projects within the Ben Thanh - Tham Luong Metro Line No. 2 and Metro line No. 5 from the Can Giuoc Bus Terminal to Sai Gon Bridge.

“Ho Chi Minh City has already conducted thorough administrative reform, creating a favorable investment environment,” Mr. Soo said.

In response, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong acknowledged the contribution made by GS E&C to the city’s infrastructure development, including the Tan Son Nhat - Binh Loi Outer Ring Road.

Regarding the Nha Be New Urban Area, he said the city will endeavor to move site clearance forward and soon hand over a clean site. The task is expected to be completed by November.

He also hopes the company will participate in other infrastructure projects in the city. Further discussions must be held regarding metro projects it wishes to be involved in.
