A South Korean passenger has been fined VND4m (USD179) for damaging three seats after being refused further alcoholic drinks on the plane.

According to the Northern Airport Authority, the incident happened during a Korean Airlines flight from Seoul to Hanoi on September 8.

The passenger, a 34-year-old businessman, was in business class. The flight attendant refused to serve him another drink after he had several.

He got angry and kicked the seats nearby, causing the seat-back pockets of three seats to came apart. The crew recorded his action with other passengers as witnesses.

According to international aviation regulations, administrative violations occur during the flight will be transferred to the local authorities of the airport.

When the plane arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, the crew submitted the case to the Northern Airport Authority.

The authority fined the passenger VND4m in accordance with the Decree 147 on sanctions for administrative violations in the field of civil aviation. He was granted entry to Vietnam after paying the fine.
