Van Ninh District under water on November 2




According to Phu Yen Province Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, 150mm rainfall was experienced on November 2 and the Song Ba Ha Hydropower Plant has continued discharging water. At least seven communes and towns were left isolated, five of which are in the mountainous district of Dong Xuan.

500 households with 1,250 residents were evacuated while over 600 hectares of crops were submerged under water.

Tran Huu The, vice chairman of Phu Yen People's Committee, asked local authorities to send employees to guard and ban travellers from using flooded key routes. They were also asked to help the locals evacuate and raise awareness about the flood and landslide.

Khanh Hoa Province's Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue reported that over 880 hectares of rice in Van Ninh District had been destroyed. 317 out of 9,790 fishing boats were still out at sea and had sought shelter. The rest returned to the shore safely.

The committee also asked local authorities to keep a close eye on maritime activities and provide vessels with updated information about the storm. Reservoir management boards were asked to monitor discharges to ensure the safety of dams and residents downstream.
