The annual event, held by the municipal Department of Tourism in collaboration with Suoi Tien Theme Park JSC and the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, aims to introduce fresh fruits to tourists and honour farmers’ achievements.
At a press conference on May 24, vice director of the tourism promotion centre under the Department of Tourism Truong Minh Hau highlighted outstanding activities in the festival, including the organisation of a floating fruit market, a “southern safe and fresh fruit” contest, a fruit decoration contest, and a “giant fruit” parade coupled with a fashion show.
Visitors to the event will be able to taste succulent fruits sold at 20-30 percent lower than the market prices like An Phuoc plum, Chin Hoa durian, Xuong longan, and Cat Hoa Loc mango.
Those who stay at four-star and five-star hotels in the city will be invited to “experiencing Vietnamese fruit” programme and Vietnamese fruit week from June 1-7.
Children will go to the festival free of charge on International Children’s Day (June 1) while excellent students in the 2017-2018 academic year will get 50 percent discount tickets.
Local tourism companies and workers at industrial zones will be entitled to a 20-30 percent discount in the ticket to the Suoi Tien Theme Park.
The organising board expected that this year’s festival will attract some 1.6 million arrivals. -VNA
