Sanchez's victory earned him the tournament's championship trophy and a prize of 100 million KRW (75,180 USD). In the women's division, Korean player Kim Ga-young topped, taking home 40 million KRW.
The tournament, part of the Professional Billiards Association (PBA) Tour, ran from August 19 to 26 in Hanoi. The PBA Tour is renowned worldwide for its high level of competition, exceptional organisation, entertainment value, substantial prize money, and the participation of top-tier athletes.
The PBA-LPBA SY Bazzar Hanoi Open 2024 attracted 192 of the world's leading players, including 126 men and 64 women from countries such as the RoK, Japan, Turkey, Belgium, and Spain. Vietnam was represented by 27 male players in the competition.
According to Lee Hee Jin, Vice President of the PBA, despite the relatively short preparation time, the collaboration and hospitality extended by Hanoi's cultural, sports, and municipal authorities were key to the tournament's successful conclusion.
Following the success of this year's event, the PBA is planning to host at least one annual tour event in Vietnam. Additionally, it is considering organising a team competition round of the PBA Tour in the country./. VNA
