The PM affirmed that the Vietnamese Government has gained many important achievements in sustaining macroeconomic stability along with promoting growth. In 2016, Vietnam exceeded all economic targets set by the National Assembly and its GDP growth is expected to increase by 6.7% in 2017.
According to rankings by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the World Bank (WB), Vietnam’s global competitiveness increased by five spots, ranking 55th out of 137 countries. The country also ranked 68th out of 190 countries for business environment, up 14 spots.
The PM also emphasized the commitment of Vietnam to promote the improvement of institutions and the law towards building a creative, developing government to serve the people and enterprises, striving to reach the main targets of the business environment to be equal to that of the group of leading countries in ASEAN (ASEAN-4) in these areas by 2020.
Highly appreciating the support of businesses to the success of the APEC Year 2017, the PM said he wants businesses to continue their support to promote Vietnam's economy further.
For their part, businesspeople said that through the two APEC Summits, the business environment in Vietnam has improved significantly. A number of corporations committed to expand their investment and business activities in Vietnam, and to try to attract more international businesses to invest in Vietnam.
Investors expressed their wish that the Vietnamese government accelerate reforms, and make use of the achievements of the industrial revolution 4.0 to create a transparent and equal business environment.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister addressed many issues of concern of leaders of corporations in various fields related to Vietnam's policies in attracting foreign investment, such as the roadmap to remove non-tariff barriers, simplify administrative formalities, and develop strategy for the energy sector, logistics services, food safety, tourism, technology development, start-ups ...
The PM also said that foreign businesses in Vietnam should operate in accordance with the law.
