Of the figure, oil and gas giant Petro Viet Nam took the lead with an accumulated volume of US$4 billion, accounting for 60.8 percent of State-owned-company investment abroad.

A total 72 projects from 16 enterprises saw their investment recouped by a total US$4 billion, with the majority (71.09 percent) from Petro Viet Nam (US$2.9 billion).

As of last year's end, Viet Nam had 827 State-owned enterprises, in which the State held at least 50 percent of total capital in 676 enterprises. Each State-owned enterprise had an average asset scale of VND4.7 trillion.

Viet Nam's overseas investment approximated US$416.8 million during the first nine months of 2023, rising 4.6 percent year on year, reported the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Of the amount, over US$244.8 million was registered for 84 new projects while more than US$171.96 million was added to 18 existing ones, a 3.38-fold increase.

As of September 20, Viet Nam had 1,667 valid overseas investment projects with combined capital of nearly US$22.1 billion./.VGP
