Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has signed Decision No.494/QĐ-TTg to set up a Steering Committee for the 'Digital Vietnamese knowledge system' project, under which Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam is appointed as the Head of the Steering Committee.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam is appointed as the Head of the Steering Committee. 


Three Deputy Heads of the Steering Committee are Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh; General Director of Military-run telecommunications company Viettel Group Nguyen Manh Hung; and First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Le Quoc Phong.

The Steering Committee is in charge of providing advice for and assisting the Prime Minister in guiding and coordinating with ministries, sectors and localities to effectively implement the 'Digital Vietnamese knowledge system' project.

In addition, the Steering Committee will assist the Prime Minister in conducting research and outlining the appropriate policies and measures to mobilise resources in order to participate in building and promoting the digital Vietnamese knowledge system.

The “Digital Vietnamese knowledge system” project – an ambitious Wikipedia-like portal designed for the Vietnamese people was launched in Hanoi on January 1, 2018, pursuant to the PM Decision No.677/QĐ-TTg.

The system comprises of an open database providing information and data published by ministries, agencies, localities, businesses, organisations and individuals and an archive of global knowledge translated into Vietnamese and Vietnamese knowledge that is systematised for easy study and access.
