Storm Damrey has ruined nearly 10,000 lobster cages in the southern-central province of Phu Yen, causing local farmers huge losses.

Each cage often has between 200 and 2,500 lobsters, but after the storm, each has only a few lobsters left alive.

Many lobster cage owners have been trying to pick around what has been left following the storm. Nguyen Minh said that he has collected 10 cages but only 15 lobsters were still alive.

Tran Xuan Long said that his family raised 4,000 lobsters but they have been almost swept away by the storm, resulting in losses of around VND250 million (USD11,363).

Many people want to repair the cages, but for others, the cages mean nothing when they have no money to raise lobsters anymore.
