Virtual laboratory 

Before thousands of students, teachers and startup experts, Nguyen Thuy Duong, a 11th grader of the Newton School in Hanoi, presented her project on software for chemistry study. 

Duong had five minutes to talk (not in her mother tongue) and answer questions from experts. However, she and other members of the team had no problems doing this.

Chemistry is a ‘nightmare’ for many students who find it difficult to remember formulas and they do not usually practice in labs. 

Therefore, Duong and her friends decided to create a virtual lab where they carry out hundreds of experiments.

The software created by Duong and 10 other team members is a mobile app which allows students to install on their mobile phones and computers. 

Three months have elapsed since the day the idea was proposed. The members of the team are still designing the interface and building software. In order to turn the idea into reality, the team will seek investments from technology firms. 

“If successful, the project will help Vietnamese students study chemistry more easily and the lack of laboratories will no longer be a difficulty for students,” Duong said.

Parenting & Child Education 

Trinh Viet Anh, a 10th grader, said he created Parenting & Child Education because he had a lot of questions about life and other issues but his parents were always busy and had no time to listen. 

Anh then he felt stress and hoped to be in a traffic accident and not have to return home. And he realized that other students had the same problem.

Anh and his team members decided to build a center which connects and brings parents and children closer to each other. 

The center will organize a lot of activities for parents and children to experience interesting and useful days. At the events, parents will not use the internet and work for money, but will spend days to go shopping, prepare meals and do housework with children.

Anh believes that with the activities, children can more easily speak their thoughts and find a common voice with parents.

In related news, from February 2, psychological counseling divisions will be set up at all schools to give support to students, under a decision by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).
