The Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security will prosecute Dao Tan Cuong, a resident of Da Nang City’s Hai Chau District, for threatening to murder an official.

The information was stated by Major General Ho Sy Tien, director of the department.

Cuong was identified as the person who sent messages threatening Huynh Duc Tho, chairman of Da Nang City People’s Committee, according to police investigations.

His messages were sent around the time the city made some decisions relating to the appointment of personnel, and there was also a letter denouncing Tho’s property. The incident was thereafter reported to the Ministry of Public Security and the Government Office.

Earlier, on August 18, Cuong was arrested by the Criminal Police Department in connection with the investigation into the charge of threatening Tho.

At the time of his arrest, Cuong was deputy director of Petrolimex Aviation Fuel JSC’s Da Nang branch.

He is the brother of Dao Tan Bang, chief of Da Nang City Party Committee’s Office.
