Hundreds of passenger stuck at Cat Bi Airport

A Jetstar Pacific flight from Hai Phong City's Cat Bi Airport to HCM City's Tan Son Nhat Airport was scheduled to take off at 9.15 pm on February 14. However, it was delayed until nearly 1 am the next day.

After that, passengers continued receiving several more notifications, saying that their flight was delayed until 1.40 am and 1.50 am even though they had already gone through the security gate. Many people complained that they didn't have any support from the airliner. All the restaurants had already closed at that time and passengers were left to sleep in the waiting area.

Tran Hong L, a passenger from Nam Dinh Province said her relatives also stayed with her at the airport because they worried about the changing schedule. "They only said the flight was delayed but didn't clarify what time we could take off so we didn't dare to leave the waiting area," she said.

Jetstar Pacific said they had to cancel the flight in the end because Tan Son Nhat Airport was overloaded on February 14.

Another flight of Jetstar Pacific from HCM City to Phu Quoc Island was delayed from 6.45 pm to 7.40 pm, which made the return flight from Phu Quoc Island to HCM City be delayed from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm. This plane was supposed to fly to Hai Phong City afterwards but the pilot and crew members had exceeded their flight hours.

Jetstar Pacific apologised and paid VND400,000 (USD18) in compensation to each passenger. Another flight to HCM City took off at 12 pm.
