The Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the HCM City Communist Youth Union, the Viet Nam Youth Union and the People’s Committee of Da Nang City organised a press conference to introduce the activities of Techfest 2018 on Wednesday.

Techfest 2018 would be bigger than last year’s event, said Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung.

This year would see a series of events, helping innovative start-ups access investment capital, apply technology in production and business at home and abroad, he said.

Tung also affirmed that this year had seen the strong development and spread of the start-up movement nationwide. "Promoting innovative start-ups is not just the task of one ministry, but has expanded to ministries, departments, localities, socio-political organisations and associations," he said.

A highlight of this year’s event is a journey themed ‘Youth with innovative start-ups,’ which takes place from November 18 to 29.

One hundred start-ups with the best ideas will take part in the start-up journey, which will go through 11 cities and provinces including Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Quang Nam, Lam Dong, HCM City and Can Tho.

The start-ups will be able to participate in seminars, talks and exchanges in the localities, while also visiting large corporations and typical start-up models, exhibiting innovative products and participating in capital investment calls. — VNS
