The students are from Industrial University of HCMC, HCMC Vocational College of Technology, Cao Thang Technical College, Thu Duc College of Technology, Dong An Vocational College, HCMC Vocational College, Ly Tu Trong College of Technology, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, HCMC College of Engineering & Economics, HCMC College of Industry and Trade, Vietnam-Singapore Vocational College, HCMC University of Technology and Education, Can Tho Vocational College, and HCMC College of Economics and Technology.

The scholarships belong to an annual scholarship program under the framework of HEEAP. In the 2012-2015 period, 436 scholarships worth over VND2.83 billion have been given to girls from 14 engineering universities and colleges.

Ho Uyen, public affairs director at Intel Products Vietnam, told the scholarship ceremony that promoting educational opportunities for girls and capacity building for women are one of the core elements of Intel’s education program and social responsibilities.

“With the desire of improving the percentage of female students in technical field in Vietnam, we are committed to extending this scholarship program from 2015 to 2017 through HEEAP to bring more opportunities for girls in their technical career path,” Uyen said.

Representatives of the program announced the 2016 scholarship program and application submission would start in September 2016. Female students from the above listed schools can download the form and apply for scholarships, as well as learn more about the program at: http://heeap.org/scholarship.

HEEAP was initiated in 2010 through a three-way partnership between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Intel Corporation and Arizona State University. The program focuses on faculty development for engineering education, with the goal of providing high-quality, work-ready graduates to support Vietnam’s competitiveness in high technology industries.
