Located along the gentle Cai Lach river, Phu Son bougainvillea village in Vinh Thanh commune, Vinh Long province - formerly Phu Son commune, Cho Lach district, Ben Tre province - has emerged as a compelling destination for travelers from near and far.

As Tet approaches, the village becomes even more lively, welcoming tourists and photographers eager to take in the scenery and feel the festive rhythm of the Mekong Delta preparing for the new year.

Photographer Nguyen Khanh Vu Khoa, 41, from Ho Chi Minh City, visited the village a few days ago.

Although it was his third visit, he said he was still impressed and overwhelmed by the riot of natural colors.

According to Khoa, bougainvillea in Phu Son is planted most densely along both sides of the road near the embankment by Bao Vang canal bridge. The variety grown here is salt-tolerant, with thick clusters of blossoms in vivid hues that last for a long time.

Bougainvillea is often seen as a symbol of peace and elegance, yet also resilience. For that reason, during Tet many families in the Mekong Delta choose the flower to decorate their courtyards or homes.

The flowers here vary in shape, color and leaf type, ranging from pink, red, orange, yellow and white to purple, as well as green or variegated leaves.

Among them, the most popular are medium and small potted bougainvillea shaped into distinctive forms, typically aged two to three years.

Khoa suggests that the ideal time to visit and capture beautiful photographs at Phu Son bougainvillea village is in the morning or early afternoon, around 9am to 10am or 2pm to 3pm.

During these hours, the weather is pleasant and the sunlight soft, making it perfect for outdoor sightseeing, experiences and check-ins.
