Each flight becomes an opportunity to serve the community and bring happiness to passengers as they return home for the holidays.

Busy Tet flights

This Tet, Captain Nguyen Huu Chat and his children Nguyen Thu Hang (25 years old) and Nguyen Huu Hoang Nam (22 years old), all pilots with Vietjet, are busier than ever. Together, they are “up in the clouds,” serving the travel needs of the people during Tet.

“We understand that Tet is a time for reunions, when people from all over return to their hometowns. We know our responsibility is to ensure safe flights for passengers,” Captain Chat said.

“Each flight during Tet is not only a journey but also a sacred mission. Thinking of the happiness passengers feel when they return home and seeing their bright smiles when they step off the plane gives us more motivation and pride. The happiness of passengers is our happiness,” he added.

Inspired by her father, pilot Nguyen Huu Chat, Nguyen Thu Hang is always ready for duty on every flight.

With all three family members being pilots, each one has their own flight schedule, making it rare for the family to sit together during Tet. They have long gotten used to not having family meals on holidays or taking trips together.

Similar to his colleague Nguyen Huu Chat, Captain Vu Huu Quyet also has children, Vu Ngoc Minh (31 years old) and Vu Quang Anh (28 years old), who have followed in his footsteps and are working with the same airline.

Captain Vu Quang Anh shared: “My family has three members who are often away from home during holidays. But, at the same time, I get to celebrate Tet in a very unique way, marking the moment of the New Year’s Eve in the sky with kind colleagues, who always treat each other like a second family. Moreover, all three of us are contributing to the mission of bringing passengers home to reunite with their loved ones. It’s both a joy and a pride, not just for me but for the whole crew.”

Having been with the airline from the very beginning, Vu Huu Quyet said: “I always feel the spirit of solidarity, innovation, and creativity in every step of the airline’s journey. Here, development opportunities are clear, and effort and enthusiasm are always recognized.”

“This is what makes me love the working environment and the people here. That’s why I encouraged my children to nurture their passion for conquering the skies and join the aviation industry.”

Vu Ngoc Minh shared that she didn’t know when exactly, but the image of her father wearing his pilot uniform to work had deeply impressed her and her sister. Both sisters admired their father and made a decision to become pilots like him. Fortunately, their father supported and encouraged them in their pursuit of this dream. Today, they both feel proud of their work and continuously strive to fulfill the responsibilities given by the airline.

Also nurtured by her father’s passion, Nguyen Thu Hang said that thanks to her father’s detailed guidance, she became more confident and determined to pursue her dream of conquering the skies.

“Very few families have three members working in the same profession and at the same company. Thanks to my father, both my sister and I were able to fly and inherit his great passion. This is something very special and valuable. We are proud to be part of the growth of the aviation industry. Every flight is an opportunity for us to bring passengers to new destinations, experience wonderful moments, and explore the world,” Thu Hang said.

For Hoang Nam, his father and sister’s inspiring stories motivate him to push through the demanding stages of study and training. “The dream of flying in the sky and wanting to control a massive machine to safely take passengers to their desired destinations made me determined to pursue a career as a pilot, continuing my family’s tradition,” Hoang Nam proudly stated.

Although their flight schedules are always busy, both Huu Chat and Huu Quyet always try to create moments to connect with their family members. After each flight, the family shares interesting stories to inspire one another during every warm meal together.

This spring, pilots Huu Chat, Huu Quyet, and their children, along with many other pilot families, are continuing their mission to bring passengers home to reunite with their families and to celebrate the first day of the new year.

Though they cannot be together during the holiday, their love for their profession and the desire to conquer the skies serve as a bond that connects family members. For them, each flight is not only a job but a sacred responsibility and a source of happiness and pride.
