Leaders of several foreign countries have extended their greetings in the Vietnamese language on the occasion of the 2021 Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.

The Lunar New Year, known throughout the nation as Tet, is of great importance to both Vietnamese people and citizens of other Asian countries, with the first day of Tet usually being for family gatherings and the worshipping of ancestors.

“When I came to Vietnam, I realized that spring rolls was a popular dish, both for vegetarian and pescatarian. Tet (Lunar New Year) is coming and this is the dish that almost every Vietnamese family has in their Tet meal.”

The Lunar New Year (Tet) has long been a key part of Vietnamese culture. The biggest and most important holiday of the year, Tet is an opportunity for family members to reunite and honour the traditional values of the homeland.

“Tet Vietnam Xua” (Vietnam’s Tet in the Olden Days), a collection of articles by Vietnamese and French scholars, gives readers a host of insights into the traditional holiday through its many rituals and customs.

A “Mam Ngu Qua” or five-fruit tray is indispensable for each Vietnamese family among the numerous offerings required to decorate ancestral altars during the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

The candied ginger made in Kim Long ward, Hue city, in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, stands out for its authenticity and absence of additives.
