Police in Thai Nguyen province working with the Investigation Police Department on Drug-Related Crimes (C47) apprehended two suspects who were smuggling a large quantity of heroin.

According to the provincial police, they noticed suspicious activity when observing a man driving a black Hyundai Santafe car through Ao Rom 1 hamlet, Khe Mo commune, Dong Hy district, Thai Nguyen province at 12:30 p.m. on July 30.

They stopped the car and discovered 19 bricks of heroin inside.

The suspect, Giang A Lanh, 26, admitted to transporting the drugs from Son La province to Thai Nguyen province for distribution with a price of VND185 million per brick.

Upon searching his house in Co Long village, Long Luong commune, police also seized a military gun, 5 bullets, and other related evidence.

Further investigations resulted in the arrest of Vu Thi Xuan, 58, who is one of Lanh’s drug dealers, and the discovery of another 31 bricks of heroin.

The police said that when transporting the drugs, the drug smugglers often used a variety of license plates and carried two women and 5 children under five to disguise their activities.
