Thai Consul General Panpimon Suwannapongs introduces Thai paintings at the Consulate General of Thailand in HCMC.

The free-entrance event, which aims to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Vietnam, will feature food, beverages, art performances, and a trade fair for Thai products.

Thai consul general in HCMC, Panpimon Suwannapongs, said at a press conference held last week to announce the “Thai village in HCMC” that the event will have multiple activities and be a good chance for Vietnamese people to learn about Thailand as well as growing ties of the two countries.

It is expected that all the proceeds from the event will go to the HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients.

Vietnam and Thailand established diplomatic relations in 1976, and leaders of the two countries agreed to elevate bilateral ties to strategic partnership in June 2013.

Vietnam is Thailand’s 4th trade partner, after Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. At a meeting in July last year, the two countries committed to increasing their two-way trade from US$15 billion to US$20 billion by 2020.
