On regional football forums and social media, U23 Vietnam quickly became the most talked-about team, as supporters across the region praised their dominant group stage performance, which saw them win all their matches.

Commenter Le Trong Thang wrote, “Now I wonder how U23 Thailand managed to score two goals against Vietnam. Even Jordan and Saudi Arabia couldn’t do that. Maybe it was just a fluke.”

His sentiment struck a chord with many, as U23 Vietnam’s defensive line has been among the strongest in the tournament.

In contrast, some drew parallels between Thailand’s struggles and Vietnam’s past. Fan David Kieu commented, “Watching Thailand play reminds me of Vietnam under Philippe Troussier - lots of possession but no idea how to attack. I sympathize with them.”

As Thailand bowed out of the group stage, many Southeast Asian fans shifted their support toward Vietnam. A user named Generation Ship posted, “Condolences to Thailand. Now let’s cheer for the Vietnamese Golden Dragons.”

Meanwhile, Indonesian supporter Ovie Koeswoyo expressed hope for a Vietnam vs. South Korea final, underlining the growing regional enthusiasm for Vietnam’s campaign.

Fans also pointed out the technical and mental shortcomings of the Thai team: they dominated possession but lacked strategy, struggled to penetrate defenses, and showed little fighting spirit.

Against this backdrop, U23 Vietnam has emerged as Southeast Asia’s best shot at making a deep run in the tournament. With a balanced squad, tactical discipline, and an undefeated run, they’ve become a symbol of pride for the region.

As Vietnam prepares to face the United Arab Emirates in the quarterfinals, anticipation is building not just at home, but across neighboring countries eager to see a Southeast Asian team succeed on the continental stage.
