Early this morning, July 21, a 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Ngoc Lac district in Thanh Hoa province.

According to the Institute of Geophysics (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), at 4:32 AM on July 21, an earthquake of magnitude 4.1 occurred at coordinates 20.068 degrees North latitude and 105.446 degrees East longitude, with an epicenter depth of about 10 km.

The earthquake was felt in the Ngoc Lac district of Thanh Hoa province.

On social media, many residents of Ngoc Lac district and neighboring districts in Thanh Hoa also reported feeling the tremors from the earthquake.

Previously, on May 27, an earthquake of magnitude 3.4 occurred in Nho Quan district (Ninh Binh province) without causing any damage.

The Institute of Geophysics assessed the disaster risk level of this earthquake as level 0.

The Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center at the Institute of Geophysics is continuing to monitor this earthquake.

In Vietnam, earthquakes with magnitudes between 4 and 4.9 are considered light earthquakes. When such an earthquake occurs, household items may shake and produce noise. Many people can feel the earthquake, but it generally causes little to no damage.
