In recent days, information about the relationship between Thanh Hoa Province’s Party Secretary Trinh Van Chien with a female employee of the local Construction Department has quickly spread on social networks.

According to these sources, the woman owned huge assets and has a stepson with Chien.

Do Trong Hung, Vice Party Secretary of Thanh Hoa, rejected the information and told Zing online that the information was “fabricated, offensive, slanderous, and libelous”.

Hung said Thanh Hoa authorities had asked the police to investigate the source to protect Chien’s honor.

Chien later also confirmed that the information was slanderous. "To ensure objectivity, I’ve assigned my subordinates to verify the information," Chien said.

Chien, 56, is a native from Dinh Long Commune, Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province. He holds a doctoral degree in agriculture.

Before being elected a member of the Party Central Committee and Party Secretary of Thanh Hoa, Chien held various positions in Thanh Hoa province, such as an agricultural expert of Yen Dinh district, Head of the Agricultural Extension Station of Yen Dinh district, Chair of Yen Dinh district People's Committee, Party Secretary of Yen Dinh district, Director of Thanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Vice Chairman and Chairman of Thanh Hoa province.

On June 30, at the first session of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Council of 2016-2021 term, Chien was re-elected Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Council, with 100% of the votes.
