The barrier keepers are Phạm Văn Vui, 40, and Nguyễn Văn Hùng, 35, of Thanh Hoá Province’s Tùng Lâm District.
Local police are collecting evidences and clarifying the responsibility of each individual for the train accident. The cause of the accident is also under investigation.
The two fatalities were the train driver Nguyễn Thế Hùng, 42, of Hà Nội’s Long Biên District and the sub-driver Nguyễn Xuân Đệ, 33, of Hưng Yên Province’s Ân Thi District. The truck driver was one of the injured.
The accident reportedly occurred when train number SE19, carrying 400 passengers from Hà Nội to HCM City, collided into a dump truck at a level crossing in Trường Lâm Commune at 00:30 on Thursday.
“The collision caused the cab to fall over and six other carriages to run off the tracks, the truck was heavily damaged,” said Việt Nam Railway (VNR).
In a related move, the North-South route, the primary rail line that connects the two major economic hubs of the country, was re-opened after 14 hours of disruption on Thursday. — VNS
