This marks her second time receiving the honor, following a similar win in 2023. Currently playing professionally in Japan, the 1.93-meter-tall outside hitter continues to capture the admiration of fans at home and abroad.
In a competitive field that included swimming star Nguyen Huy Hoang, track sensation Nguyen Thi Oanh, and rising football talent Nguyen Dinh Bac, Thanh Thuy stood out with a commanding share of the vote. The overwhelming fan support is a testament to her charisma, influence, and enduring appeal as one of Vietnam’s sporting icons.
A year of triumph and leadership
Throughout 2025, Thanh Thuy further solidified her position as a leader - both emotionally and tactically - within the national team.
Highlights of her year include leading Vietnam to a third consecutive championship at the AVC Nations Cup, securing the second-leg title at the SEA V-League with a landmark win against Thailand, and earning a silver medal at the 33rd SEA Games.
At the club level, she helped VTV Binh Dien Long An reach the finals of the Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship, finishing as runners-up.
Professional journey in Japan
Thanh Thuy is currently signed with Gunma Green Wings in Japan’s V.League 2025/26 season. In their latest match on January 17, the team suffered a 1–3 loss to Denso. Despite the setback, Thanh Thuy remains a key contributor and continues to elevate her game in one of Asia’s most competitive volleyball environments.
Updates from fellow Vietnamese players
Meanwhile, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh - another national team member - has yet to record her first win with Medan Falcons in the Indonesian pro league. She is expected to return to Vietnam in February and join Hanoi Club for the domestic 2026 season.
In contrast, Thanh Thuy’s continued success - both in Japan and on the international stage - has only deepened the admiration of Vietnamese fans, who once again placed their trust in her at the Victory Cup.
