VietNamNet Bridge – The Dong Hoang Bridge, more than 50 years old, in Dong Mai Ward, Ha Dong District, Hanoi is seriously degraded and can collapse anytime.

The bridge spanning the Day River was built in the 60s to serve more than 1,000 people. It collapsed once in 2010.

The bridge is seriously degraded at present. On the two entries, the authorities have to hang the signboards "Dong Hoang Bridge is at risk of collapse. People and vehicles banned from crossing the bridge".

However, if they don’t cross the bridge, local people will have to use the Mai Linh Bridge, which makes their distance nearly 10 km further.

Therefore, local people continue to use the dangerous bridge.

Local residents said over 1,000 people, including nearly 400 students, have to cross the bridge every day.
