VietNamNet Bridge – With an area of 4,500 m2, the village pond in Duong Lieu Commune, Hoai Duc District, Hanoi, has been converted into a swimming pool, attracting people of all ages to cool off on summer days.
People play in the free giant swimming pool. The pond used to be a contaminated place. In 2016, local people called for capital contributions to renovate the village pond into a huge swimming pool for free.
Local people call it a water park.
Mr. Nguyen Phi Hau, 59, is the founder of Duong Lieu Commune Swimming Club, had the idea of transforming the polluted pond into a free "pool".
On summer days, the swimming pool serves hundreds of people.
Thanks to the pond, all children in the village can swim well.
This is not only a place for children to bathe and play but also a useful way for elderly people to cure disease.
The water is replaced once a year but the pond is cleaned daily.
