 This set of table and chairs is worth nearly VND2 billion ($100,000). The owner of the furniture said he hired 20 craftsmen to make the furniture in two years, from eight pieces of ebony.  To make this set of furniture, the owner spent two years to collect raw material and two years to turn the material into these products. 
 The owner of the furniture made from 1000-year ngoc am wood is artisan Nguyen Quang Vinh.  Vinh said it took him 10 years to dive into the Gam River to seek wood. Some people offered him VND4 billion (nearly $200,000) for the furniture but he refused.  This set of furniture is worth up to VND100 billion ($5 million). It may be the most expensive wood furniture in Vietnam because it is made from red sua wood.  This is another set of sua wood furniture, weighing nearly two tons. The furniture is considered invaluable by experts because at present, the price for raw sua wood is VND600 million ($30,000)/cubic meter. The wood used to make the furniture is ancient wood of thousand years.  This set of ironwood furniture, owned by a businessman in Bac Ninh province, is worth tens of thousands of USD as the products are made from ancient wood.  A set of iron wood furniture, which is also priced tens of thousands of USD. |
