In the past few years, smartphones have become cheaper and easier to use. Paying VND2-VND3 million ($90-$180), users can own a smartphone.

According to statistics of the Mobile Marketing MMA Forum, in 2015 up to 94% of Vietnam's population had mobile phones, of which 37% used smartphones. The rates in big cities like Hanoi and HCM City were higher.

Every day, on average, each person uses his phone 150 times, 6.5 minutes between each time. People can use the phone anywhere, any time even when they are waiting for the red light at the intersection stop.

According to a study by the US-based Common Sense Media in 2014, each Vietnamese spends up to 7 hours per day for using smartphones or tablets.
