Part of the 2024 Hue Festival, the "Cultural Spectrum" street festival saw over 500 artists from both local and international backgrounds participating.
Among the international troupes were the Zhejiang Drama Troupe from China, the Kobugakudan URAKAJI Art Troupe from Okinawa, Japan (featuring drumming and lion dances), South Korea's Yangpyeong Drum Troupe, Spain's Hispano Flamenco, France's Cergy Hip hop dance group, Belgium's De Koninklijke Steltenlopers Merchtem stilt walking group, and the Double Impro Cie from Wallonia Brussels.
Each performance showcased a unique blend of traditional and contemporary art forms, promising attendees a vibrant and diverse cultural experience.
The procession wound its way through various routes, starting from the Thua Thien - Hue Culture - Cinema Center, traversing Hung Vuong and Le Loi streets, and concluding at the Monument to the Fallen Soldiers. Along the journey, iconic local landmarks such as Trang Tien Bridge, the Festival Hue Center, and the Quoc Hoc Monument were passed.
Nguyen Phuoc Hai Trung, Deputy Director of the Hue Heritage Conservation Center, emphasized the festival's significance as a platform for cultural exchange, spotlighting and honoring Hue and Vietnam's cultural heritage while fostering connections between cultures from across the globe.
Driven by their affection for Hue and inspired by the warm hospitality of its inhabitants, Belgium's Royal Stilt Walkers from Merchtem made their fifth consecutive appearance at the Hue Festival, delivering vibrant and captivating street performances. Behind their artistry lay a profound cultural narrative, reflecting centuries-old tales of resilience and adaptation in the face of adversity.
The "Cultural Spectrum" festival, part of the International Art Week Hue Festival 2024, unfolded along the main thoroughfares of Hue city from June 8th to 10th.
