A scene from Bunnie!!

Tran Thanh’s Bunnie!! crossed the VND300 billion (US$12.2 million) mark by noon on February 25 in Vietnam, while “Bau vat troi cho” (A Gift From Heaven), starring Phuong Anh Dao, unexpectedly climbed to second place at the box office.

According to independent tracker Box Office Vietnam, as of 11:30 am on February 25 - its ninth day in theaters - Bunnie!! has attracted nearly 4 million moviegoers and leads this year’s Tet seasonal box office, second only to last year’s blockbuster Red Rain (Mua Do).

Socialite statistics show that Bunnie!! generated about 640,000 online discussions during the Tet holiday, significantly more than competing titles such as A Room Called Home (Nha ba toi mot phong) and A Gift From Heaven. The Scent of Pho (Mui pho) trailed with lower engagement and remains the lowest-grossing film of the season.

Among actors in Vietnamese films this Tet, singer and actress Van Mai Huong topped the discussion charts, boosted by her role in Bunnie!!, even surpassing director-star Tran Thanh in online mentions. Six of the ten most discussed performers appeared in Bunnie!!, including Ly Ly, Vinh Dam, Phao, and Quoc Anh.

While Bunnie!! remains dominant, the box office rankings saw changes: A Gift From Heaven moved into second place in daily ticket sales, though A Room Called Home still holds higher total revenue overall. As of midday on February 25, A Gift From Heaven has grossed about VND63 billion (US$2.6 million), while A Room Called Home stands at around VND93 billion (US$3.8 million) cumulatively. The Scent of Pho sits at roughly VND33.5 billion (US$1.4 million) amid a sharp decline in screenings.
