The flower garlands and coloured lanterns were released as the participants pray for world peace.
Vice Chairman of Buddhist Sangha Patronage Council, the Most Venerable Thich Duc Nghiep and Thich Thanh Dam, Vice Chairman of the VBS's Executive Council, the Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, monks, researchers and Buddhists from 112 countries, as well as Vietnamese leaders, attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh highlighted the message of peace of love and called for actions to build a bright future together.
Volunteers lit the flower lanterns which were arranged into the symbol of the Vesak. The lanterns were then released onto the lake of Tam Chuc Pagoda.
