The Department of Business Development (DBD) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), after surveying 1,000 businesses, found that the number of enterprises deploying digital transformation was on the rise.
This is the result of programs run by many ministries, branches and localities, including AITA (Authority of Information Technology Application), Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and DBD.
MPI has cooperated with USAID to help enterprises to carry out digital transformation in the 2021-2025 period.
In the first phase of the program, more than 10,000 businesses in 40 localities were directly trained in digital transformation. As many as 1,500 enterprises can assess their readiness for digital transformation. The guiding materials, videos for training, and sharing of experiences have attracted 2 million hits.
MPI said the increase in number of enterprises doing so has risen substantially compared with the survey results in 2021. At that time, enterprises were learning about information to prepare for digital transformation.
The changes in perception show maturity in companies' perception, skills and experience on the subject.
Though the number of enterprises digitizing is increasing, the use of digital technology in many enterprises, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs), remains unconnected.
This is attributed to a lack of clear goals, plans and strategies that should have been set from the beginning.
As a result, in 2022, digital transformation did not bring the desired effects as expected.
Realizing the problem, MPI deployed a package to help build a detailed roadmap to help enterprises digitize in a methodical way.
About 200 enterprises registered to participate in the support package.
The enterprises operate in many business fields, including mechanical engineering, electronics, agriculture, agricultural product processing and wooden furniture products.
The roadmap helps enterprises find the right way to save time, costs and resources, and helps them improve competitiveness.
Among the registered businesses, DBD selected 50 enterprises that have high readiness for digital transformation, and sent experienced specialists to each to assess and give in-depth consultancy on the orientation for digital transformation.
The specialists have worked with the enterprises for three months.
Rang Dong Light Source and Vacuum Flask JSC said the company’s growth rate has increased by twofold thanks to digital transformation.
