VietNamNet Bridge - About 3,400 products including clothing, glasses, swimwear with famous brands like Gucci, Valentino, D & G have been seized by the HCM City customs agency because of their Chinese origin.






The customs agency of HCM City and the Anti-smuggling Investigation Department under the General Department of Customs have checked the shipment imported by HCM City-based Ton Nguyen company and detected many suspicious signs.

This company’s container contains thousands of products of world famous brands as Gucci, Galliano, Valentino, etc. but on the customs declaration, the origin of them is from China, with very cheap prices from $ 1.7 to $ 5.25/ product.

"You cannot know whether they are authentic or fake products by just seeing them by your eyes. In the customs declaration, the importer did not declare the brand, only the origin. We have classified the products to see what are copyright protected and what are not," said a customs official.

The customs official said that the customs agency would work with the representatives of these brands to determine whether the products are authentic or fake.

In the customs declaration of the importer, the shipment is valued at more than $ 3,000, the amount of VAT and import tax of the shipment is just over VND20 million ($1,000).

Within less than a month, the authorities have detected there cases of fashion products with famous brands but being declared with Chinese origin.

On November 27, HCM City police seized four cars carrying handbags, clothes, belts with world famous brand names such as Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, originating from China. After that, the Milano-Gucci store on Dong Khoi road, Ho Chi Minh City and the store in Hanoi were sealed. The relevant agencies are considering whether these products are authentic or fake.

On December 14, the HCM City People's Procuracies permitted the local Customs Department to transfer the suspected smuggling case of Ta Giang Linh Co., Ltd. (based in Tan Binh district) to the HCM City Police to investigate. According to records, on September 4, Ta Giang Linh opened electronic declarations on its import of variety of goods such as bags, plastic film, wooden blades, belts, key hangers, etc. from China worth more than $ 50 million, with tax duties worth more than VND13.6 million.
