Three men have been killed after a tin mine collapsed in Quy Hop ward of Nghe An province on March 13.

According to initial reports, the incident happened at 14:20 while three people, all from Chau Hong commune, were collecting tin ore from an abandoned mine. 

The victims, identified as Luong Van Tuan, 42, Luong Thi Hao, 37, and Sam Thi Hai, 32, were all buried as a result of the collapse.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, recuse forces were immediately mobilised to the scene to find the victims. Unfortunately, none of the men could be saved and their bodies were recovered at 18:30 on the same day.

Local authorities said that the mine has been closed since 2015.

Each of the victim’s family will receive initial support of VND5.4 million.
