Speaking at a meeting on November 22 to review 2024 operations and future projects, Phan Kieu Hung, Director of Da Nang International Airport, outlined significant plans for the coming years.
To prevent overloading due to increasing passenger and cargo volumes, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has committed to implementing multiple key projects:
Expansion of Terminal T1: Capacity will increase to 10 million passengers per year, bringing the total capacity of the airport (T1 + T2 + expanded T1) to 14 million passengers annually; The project has an allocated investment of 5 trillion VND, with construction scheduled from 2026 to 2028.
New Cargo Terminal: Designed to handle up to 100,000 tons of cargo per year; Investment proposals are being adjusted from 350 billion VND to 600 billion VND; Construction is set to begin in Q3 2025, with operations commencing in Q3 2026.
Northern Airport Infrastructure Development: Covers two main components on the remaining land in the airport’s northern area.
Construction will start in November 2024 and conclude in April 2025.
Da Nang International Airport is also advancing its smart terminal initiatives as part of a broader digital transformation effort, enhancing passenger and operational experiences.
