Taiwanese groom, 68, marries Vietnamese partner after 10 years together

After 10 years of living together, Gan Liang Yu, 68, Taiwanese, China, and Pham Thi Be Muoi, now 53, Quoi An commune, Vinh Long province, held a wedding in their hometown with blessings from family, relatives and villagers.

Both met a decade ago when both had experienced broken marriages. Muoi went to Taiwan to work to raise her daughter, while Yu has two grown-up daughters. Empathy for each other's plight and past hurts brought them together.

Due to limited circumstances at the time, they just moved in together without organizing a wedding. After many years of attachment, together taking care of children and building a stable life, they decided to hold a wedding at the end of last July.

Nguyen My Huyen, 24, Muoi's daughter, took charge of arranging everything for the wedding. The U70 groom also carefully prepared offerings according to the Mekong Delta’s wedding customs.

The twilight-age wedding of Muoi and Yu took place warmly and with full rituals: engagement, ancestral ceremony, bride welcoming. The moment Muoi was led by relatives to hand over to the groom moved her daughter because after many years of waiting, her mother finally had a complete wedding.

Huyen said that over the past 10 years, her stepfather and mother have always loved and cared for each other, together overcoming difficulties in life. Her stepfather once had a critical accident and it was her mother's devoted, persistent care that helped him recover.

For Huyen, the wedding is a beautiful ending for the long journey of attachment and companionship of her stepfather and mother.

71-year-old groom marries 66-year-old bride in Lao Cai province

Nguyen Van Thuy (born 1955) and Tran Thi Mai (born 1960, both residing in Mau A Commune, Lao Cai Province) found each other in their twilight years. In April 2026, the couple decided to organize a cozy wedding with the full support and endorsement of their 11 children and relatives from both families.

Mai and Thuy shared similar life backgrounds. Mai had been a widow for 17 years with five married children. Thuy's wife passed away in 2021 due to severe illness after 10 years of his attentive care. Thuy's six children had long hoped their father would find a companion for his old age.

While acquainted previously, the two began meeting and conversing more frequently in 2025. Following five months of courtship, Thuy proposed and received Mai's agreement.

Upon learning the news, children and grandchildren on both sides offered full support. Instead of holding a simple announcement gathering as the couple initially planned, their 11 children arranged a proper wedding featuring decorated bridal cars, a wedding marquee, and a banquet for relatives and friends.

On their special day, Thuy and Mai conducted ancestral rites, officially becoming husband and wife amid emotional family celebrations. Since then, Thuy's life has grown warmer with daily companionship, while Mai enjoys a new home surrounded by caring family members.

Thanh Hoa groom in his late 60s fetches bride after 6 years of loneliness

Following his wife's passing in 2020, Mung (born 1961, from Thanh Hoa Province) lived alone in his rural hometown, while his two children married and lived far away.

Whenever checking home security cameras and seeing her father eating meals alone in loneliness, Trinh Thi Huyen (born 1993, Mung's daughter) felt deep heartache for him.

In late 2025, Huyen was overjoyed when her father shared the news that he had found a suitable life partner, a woman from the same village nine years his junior. The two had courted seriously for three months, building feelings mature enough to consider marriage.

Having always hoped father would soon find someone to keep company, hearing this news, Huyen fully supported.

In March 2026, Mung held a wedding with full traditional rituals. Although only one hamlet apart, he still hired a wedding car to pick up the bride because he didn't want his new wife to be disadvantaged. Huyen and family made 10 trays of feast inviting relatives, friends to share joy with father.
