The move followed the instruction of Nguyen Van Phuong, chairman of the provincial people’s committee, who recently inspected the traffic situation around Hue Imperial City.
The centre of Hue City, particularly the area around the Imperial City, is facing greater traffic pressure as the site welcomes thousands of visitors. Tourists have to walk through the Cua Ngan area to access the Imperial City. Meanwhile, the streets in the area are quite narrow and do not have pavements, causing inconvenience for people.
Phuong has asked the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre to co-operate with the Hue City’s authorities and the provincial Department of Transport to take measures to ease traffic in Hue City’s centre.
Under Phuong’s instructions, concerned agencies need to consider building a wooden bridge to lead to the Imperial City. The city also needs to upgrade the parking lot near the Imperial City to raise its capacity.
Hue City has been asked to set up task forces to canvass opinions and concerns from tourists. It is especially necessary to install cameras at tourist sites to prevent and tackle tourist harassment.
