The match took place in the women’s singles event, with world No. 24 Linh taking on world No. 22 Hsu Wen Chi, marking the first time that the pair had faced each other in a global tournament.
The local player was able to overcome Hsu Wen Chi 21-15 in the first set.
The Phu Tho native then went on to gain victory over her Taiwanese rival 21-19 in the second set, with the match ultimately ending 2-0 in favour of the Vietnamese player.
Moving forward, Linh is set to face world No. 8 Han Yue of China in the next round of the tournament. The Denmark Open 2023 initially began on October 17 and is scheduled to last through to October 22.
Following the conclusion of the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD 19), Thuy Linh participated in five consecutive international tournaments with the ultimate goal of ranking among the top 20 in the world.
Following the tournaments in Finland and Denmark, she will continue to attend tournaments abroad, including in France at the Super 750 World Tour, Germany at the Super 300 World Tour, and the Republic of Korea at the Super 300 World Tour.
