Specifically, flights from HCM City to Thanh Hoa and Hai Phong are fully booked while 99 percent of seats on flights from HCM City to Quy Nhon, Hue and Da Nang are booked. There are only several seats left for the days before Tet, and they are very expensive.
For Vietjet’s flights, no ticket is left for HCM City -Thanh Hoa flights on January 14-15, Jan 17 and Jan 19. There are several unoccupied seats on Jan 18 and Jan 20, but the tickets are expensive and passengers have to fly at night or early in the morning. For HCM City-Hai Phong route, the flights on Jan 16-17 are full.
The national flag air carrier Vietnam Airlines only has business-class tickets for HCM City -Thanh Hoa flights on January 15 (VND6 million). Few seats are left for other days. Economy-class ticket is VND3.581 million for the flights with departure time in the early morning (1-2 am).
The same thing has been reported for the flights to Hai Phong. Tickets for January 15 flights have run out. There are only business-class tickets for Jan 16-19 available, priced at VND6 million.
With the slots at Tan Son Nhat International Airport additionally granted (most only with the departure at night or early in the morning), the numbers of seats for the flights from HCM City to northern and central provinces have increased considerably.
Airlines have been selling additional tickets for the flights from HCM City to Da Nang and Vinh (Nghe An) on Jan 16-20. Vietjet’s prices are between VND1.655 million and VND2.838 million, not including taxes and fees (departure time at night or early in the morning), while Vietnam Airlines’ prices are VND2.3-5.2 million, including taxes and fees (Vietnam Airlines). If passengers want to fly with Bamboo Airways, they would have to pay VND1.6-3.7 million.
As for HCM City - Vinh flights, Vietjet’s tickets are cheaper, VND2.65-4 million, not including taxes and fees (2-4 flights a day). However, there are no more seats for the flights on Jan 17-18.
Vietnam Airlines still has tickets for some flights, but the airfares are high, from VND3.58 million. If passengers want to fly on Jan 15, they have to buy business-class tickets (VND6 million). Bamboo Airways only has one flight a day on Jan 15-16 (departure time 6 am) with air ticket prices of VND4.3-5 million. There are no more tickets for Jan 17-19.
